On Thursday, September 13, 2012, Robert M. Jaworski and Travis P. Nelson will be speaking at the New Jersey Bankers Association’s 2012 Senior Management Conference. This presentation will examine past and future supervisory policies and issues that are currently being considered by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), including the areas of mortgage lending and servicing, student loans, credit cards, and payday lending, among others. The presentation will provide a high-level overview of the CFPB’s policy objectives and examination-approaches in key areas. In addition to the substantive issues, the presentation will examine the procedural and strategic components of CFPB investigations and enforcement actions, as well as the CFPB’s emerging role in private litigation. This presentation is designed to provide senior management with insights on what to expect from the CFPB, how to best position themselves to avoid hostile examinations by the CFPB, and how to minimize the risk of individual and institutional liability in CFPB enforcement actions. For more information on these issues, to receive a copy of the presentation materials, or to schedule a similar presentation for your institution, please contact Travis P. Nelson.
